Social media for consumer representatives in NSW

Fri 04, May 2018

If you are using Facebook, Twitter and Co and you are a NSW-based health consumer representative, Health Consumers NSW has a couple of resources you might find useful.

Closed Facebook group for HCNSW individual members: This group is a safe place for NSW-based health consumer representatives and patient advocates to connect with each other, exchange ideas and support each other in their work and activities. As part of keeping this a safe space, you must be an individual member of Health Consumers NSW (its free! Join here: http://www.hcnsw.org.au/members.php). This offers some accountability among members of the online forum, certainty that you are indeed connecting with other consumers and patient advocates, and we hope membership also provides you with further support and resources.

Video - Facebook and your data: How to keep safe (Facebook live): Are you a health consumer and health advocate who has found Facebook a useful tool for news, networking and advocating? Or do you have to rely on social media for support and discussions with 'like-minded' people who live with the same health condition as you? If you are worried about your data on Facebook, whether or not to stay on there, and what to reveal where this is the LIVE video session for you. Gareth Kidd from Hancock Creative talks data security and possibilities.

Factsheet - Facebook and health consumers: This explains, step-by-step, how to keep your data on Facebook as safe as possible.
