Become part of the NSW Cancer Plan Governance Committee
Deadline: Friday, 6 March 2020
Who: Cancer Institute NSW
Application for membership of the NSW Cancer Plan Governance Committee is now open to health consumer representatives in NSW.
The NSW Cancer Plan
The NSW Cancer Plan sets out a coordinated and collaborative approach to cancer control. The current cancer plan for NSW builds on the success of previous plans, with the aim of lessening the burden of cancer in NSW by:
- reducing the incidence of cancer
- increasing the survival of people with cancer
- improving the quality of life of people with cancer.
The Cancer Institute NSW is the custodian of the NSW Cancer Plan as well as a lead agency. A number of lead agencies are identified in the plan and are responsible for driving the delivery of key programs and services. Collaborating agencies work alongside lead agencies to facilitate progress.
Findings from the interim evaluation conducted in 2019 included three recommendations, including the establishment of a governance committee for the NSW Cancer Plan.
The NSW Cancer Plan Governance Committee
The NSW Cancer Plan Governance Committee provides oversight and advice on development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting for the NSW Cancer Plan. It also promotes and facilitates engagement and communication between all involved agencies.
Health consumer representatives and senior representatives of key stakeholder agencies identified as leads and collaborators.
Role of consumers
The Cancer Institute NSW is seeking a consumer who has some understanding of the NSW health system and cancer care and is interested in providing a broad consumer perspective on this Committee.
