John Stubbs – goodbye for now

John Stubbs has been a Health Consumers NSW Board member for more than five years.
In January 2020, one of our long-standing Board members, John Stubbs, resigned from our Board. We are sad to see John go and hope to see him back and involved with our organisation in the future. We fully support and understand the reasons for his resignation and wish him all the best in 2020.
In 2018, John and his wife lost their son due to mental illness. Dealing with that tragedy meant that John sought leave of absence from his numerous consumer roles, including that of Board Member of Health Consumers NSW and voluntary CEO of CanSpeak NSW, the consumer organisation who nominated him for our Board.
John’s lack of availability and commitment to CanSpeak NSW in the last two years, coupled with the recent deaths of longstanding members of that organisation, meant that CanSpeak NSW was dissolved on 31 December 2019.
On this basis John has resigned from the Health Consumers NSW Board to ensure that the governance of our organisation is protected under the constitution rules.
We thank John for his great work on our Board. We will miss his skill of analysing issues from a different angle and calm, logical approach, as well as his vast experience as a consumer representative. We hope to see him involved with us in the future again.
